Beware the scrap of paper on the floor

by Dave Foy on June 8, 2008

Sounds like an ancient Chinese proverb:

“beware scrap of paper on floor, could be butterfly.”

Ummm…. it’d be a pretty crap proverb I grant you, but it’d certainly resonate well with our situation at the moment…

Walking into our downstairs loo earlier in the week, I spotted what seemed like a scrap of yellow paper on the floor and casually tapped it with my foot (hoping to achieve what? I don’t know…) Turns out it’s a butterfly (or maybe a really big moth – hard to tell these days?!)

We’ve been watching it all week, with regular reports on its health and well-being -

“Is it still there?”

“Yes”

Etc.

Butterfly on our loo floor - been there for a week

It’s quite an unassuming little thing. Flickers its wings a bit. Looks moody and interesting when being photographed. Doesn’t fly. At all.

It’s a slow news week.
